Should A Marketing Audit Be Done By Someone From The Outside?

f you are planning on having a marketing audit done, then there are quite a few questions that have to be asked. One of them would have to do with the person that is actually going to be doing the audit. Now, there are two schools of thought on this matter, and it is up to you to decide which way you want to go. The first would be to get someone internal to help out and some might prefer this. The other way would be to go find a person who would be doing an external marketing audit. This refers to when you get someone who has no connection with the company to do the audit. We want to talk about the latter method as we feel that it would be more beneficial to get this done in such a manner. Again, we want to state that the decision is yours but there are a few issues with going down the internal route. The first is that it would not be possible for them to be objective. They come into this audit with preconceived notions that are not going to help you at all. You need someone who is coming in with a fresh set of eyes as that is the only way to be objective.

Have No Bias

That brings us to the point of having no bias as only then will the findings be a true reflection of what you have done. There is no point in coddling the truth when it comes to marketing and the sooner you realise this the better. So, by going outside for this work, you are putting yourself in the hands of a person who will be honest in what they do.

Finding Mistakes

Another problem that may arise with an internal solution is that they might not want to pinpoint a mistake. It can be for a number of reasons including the fact that they might be responsible for it. But an external audit is going to show you the mistakes if there are any. When all of this is laid bare, you can know just how effective your marketing has or has not been. It is for these reasons and more that you should look outside for help of this nature. The aim is to find methods that can help you grow and that is not really possible with an internal audit.
